Maritzburg United ready to listen to offers for Philani Zulu

Posted: 7 December 2016 Time: 19:16

Maritzburg United are open to releasing out of favour midfielder Philani Zulu next month should there be any interested clubs that approach them for his services.

Zulu will enter the last six months of his contract with Maritzburg in January. and is believed to have already agreed terms with a Gauteng-based club on a pre-contract.

Since declining the Team of Choice's renewal offer, Zulu has found himself out of the running for a place in the matchday squad for their past nine games.

He had started three of the first four games that the club played this season, after having been a regular last term featuring in all their league games as they narrowly escaped relegation.

“He [Zulu] is still here, training with the first team,” Quintin Jettoo, the operations manager at the club, tells KickOff.com.

“Right now he cannot make the squad and, according to his contract, will be with us until the end of the season.

"However, if there is any club interested in him during the next transfer window, then we will be willing to engage them as per procedure.”

The 24-year-old made his debut during the 2011-12 and has looked impressive through his time at the club, which is why it is not surprising that there has been interest from elsewhere.
