Daniel Cardoso: Kaizer Chiefs top of the log by Christmas

Posted: 3 December 2016 Time: 16:28

Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso has vowed the Glamour Boys will top the Absa Premiership standings by Christmas.

Chiefs are seven points adrift of log leaders Cape Town City ahead of tonight's clash with Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

“We will be on top of the log by Christmas. We are not far from the top of the log,” Cardoso told his club ahead of the 18h00 kick-off.

“We had a bit of rest and an opportunity to reflect on our last match against Cape Town City,” he added of the 1-1 draw with City at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

“There were lots of positives to be taken from that game, despite the 1-1 draw. We were down to 10 men early in the game, but we were able to contain them to keep one point.

“But we are getting there. We take collective responsibility for the missed opportunities and we are sure that this will pass and that we will get back to our winning ways very soon.”

Cardoso also expects new signing Joseph Molangoane to make an impact at Naturena.

'Tight' is in line to face his former club Chippa this evening.

“Tight will have a big influence on the team. We welcome him and wish him all of the best. He is a good player.”

In team news, centre-back Erick Mathoho is doubtful with a knock, while midfielder William Twala (injury) and left-back Sibusiso Khumalo (suspended) have been ruled out of the tie.
