SuperSport United match-winner Thabo Mnyamane is excited about the prospect of his first cup final after his goal knocked Orlando Pirates out of the Telkom Knockout.
Mnyamane’s goal in the 22nd minute at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday sent Matsatsantsa into the final as he skipped through the Pirates defence, latched onto a loose ball and fired into an empty net after leaving Jackson Mabokgwane for dead.
“What a mighty God we serve, I’m very thankful,” he said on SuperSport after the match.
“It’s a great honour to play with such a bunch of players, they are special players, we’re a good team and we’re very grateful. We’re going to take the opportunity to showcase our talent in the final.”
The former University of Pretoria attacker played down his own rise to form and credited his team for his recent emergence.
“It’s a team effort, they are helping me do well each and every game and I’m improving because of them,” Mnyamane added.
“So no man is an island and I’m giving all the gratitude to my team and the technical team, everyone involved at SuperSport.
“It’s my first cup final, I’m excited to play in the final and we can’t just go there and not win it, we must win it.”
SuperSport will play Cape Town City in the final after they beat Free State Stars 4-1 in the other semi-final.
