Luvuyo Memela reserves praise for Reyaad Pieterse

Orlando Pirates winger Luvuyo Memela felt SuperSport United goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse was the only thing that stood between them and a place in the Telkom Knockout final.

SuperSport joined Cape Town City in the final of the league cup after edging the Buccaneers 1-0 in their semifinal at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday evening.

Pieterse pulled off a number of match-winning saves to foil the Pirates attackers, particularly a few shots from Memela, who admitted his disappointment at the result.

"I must say it wasn't our lucky day, and it's hearbreaking because we really wanted to win this game," a visibly dejected Memela told SuperSport TV.

"But I guess it was one of those days where we tried and tried, and their keeper [Pieterse] was on form so we couldn't get the goals."

The former Cape Town All Stars attacker also conceded that Matsatsantsa put up a tough fight, and wishes Stuart Baxter's side all the best for their final on December 10.

"They were getting stuck in and we also knew they would come at us, so we told ourselves that we need to be strong on the ball, but good luck to them," he concluded.
