Bidvest Wits striker Eleazar Rodgers cautious ahead of Highlands Park clash

Posted: 23 November 2016 Time: 09:45

Bidvest Wits striker Eleazar Rodgers feels it is not going to be an easy game when The Students face Highlands Park tonight regardless of where the clubs lie in the standings.

Highlands are 14th on the table while Wits, with three games in hand, dropped to second following Cape Town City’s 3-2 win over Maritzburg United last night at Athlone Stadium.

“There no easy games in the league… so on the day it comes down to performance. Highlands Park has a couple of experienced players. I don’t think they’ve been playing bad… it’s just the matter of them getting the results,” Rodgers tells KickOff.com.

“And coming to us they also want to get three points so it’s not going to be easy for us. But we are excited because we playing home and we definitely want to get the three points in this game. So we gonna go out there and try and give another good performance to get the three points.”

The former Platinum Stars striker is enjoying life at his new club following his off-season switch.

“So far it’s been good… can’t complain. We started the season very well. I’m also getting some game-time and I’m glad that we started so well and we also won a trophy (MTN8).

“There’s no better way to start of your season to be on top and win a trophy. I’m just hoping that we can continue playing well… and take each game as it comes.”

Rodgers, who netted a winner against Dikwena over the weekend, says he aims to better the 12 goals he scored for Santos in the 2011/12 PSL season.

“My personal best is 12 goals, so I definitely want to reach that target and try and beat that this season.”

Wits will host Highlands at Bidvest Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 19h30.
