SuperSport United shot-stopper Reyaad Pieterse says he’s looking forward to the prospect of making his debut for Matsatsantsa against his former club Kaizer Chiefs.
This after the SuperSport coach Stuart Baxter confirmed that Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams is side-lined with a shoulder injury and will miss Wednesday’s clash at FNB Stadium.
Pietserse says he’s well aware that the timing of Williams’ injury has given him the opportunity to feature for the first time against his previous employers.
“These things happen in football, hey,” he tells KickOff.com. “It’s also not by chance, but it’s something we don’t have control over as everything happens for a reason. So let’s wait and see.
“I feel sorry for Ronwen as he was performing solidly for both club and country. But that one aspect of soccer we cannot escape. To me it doesn’t matter who play against Chiefs, as long as we can pick up three points. I know my time will come when I will make my debut.
“But, yes, it’s strange that if do make my debut, it could be against my former club. Like I pointed out before, these thing happen in football – you have to take it as it comes.”
The 24-year old however says he is not concerned if he is not fielded midweek.
“The coach has plans for each and all the players and we need to trust him,” he continued. “He has done a great job thus far and in fact deserves a lot of praise for our performances to date. It will also be an interesting game from the coach’s side as he also previously coached Chiefs.”
Kick-off is set for 19:30.
