Bloemfontein Celtic and Polokwane City cancelled each other out as they played to a 0-0 draw at the Dr Molemela Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Despite the end-to-end action in Bloemfontein, the two sides went into the half-time break still locked locked at 0-0.
City had a penalty saved as Ayanda Mtshali excellently denied Thobani Mncwango from 12-yards out in the 28th minute.
The hosts had the ball in the back of the net right before the break, but the farside official correctly flagged for offside and the goal was ruled out.
Just after the restart, George Chigova was called into a double save to deny Celtic from a free-kick on the edge of the area, and then a follow-up shot from close range.
Celtic were inches from breaking the deadlock in the 82nd minute, but Chigova once again pulled off a good block to deny Deon Hotto, whose rebound effort was also blocked on the line, before City eventually cleared their lines.
The two sides will rue their wasted opportunities as Rise and Shine remain in seventh spot, with 11 points from nine games, while Phunya Sele Sele move one place up into 13th, ahead of Highlands Park on goal difference.
