Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has confirmed that winger William Twala has been ruled out for the next “three-to-four weeks”.
Amakhosi fell to a 2-1 Absa Premiership defeat at the hands of reigning league champions Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Stadium on Saturday evening, while Twala was left out of the match day squad.
Komphela confirmed that the knock that the 26-year-old attacker sustained to his ankle in their Telkom Knockout clash against Free State Stars a fortnight ago is more serious than initially suspected.
“Twala is still in a moon boot, and I’m sure very soon he’ll be back,” said Komphela.
“He suffered the injury against Free State Stars, so they have given him about three-to-four weeks to be back.
“We will look at him when we go back [to training] again to see how he’s doing, but he’s still in a moon boot.”
Meanwhile, Komphela was noncommittal when asked about the extent of the injury sustained by Sibusiso Khumalo, who called for a substitution immediately after Chiefs’ goal.
“I haven’t got the report [on Khumalo] yet, I’m sure the medics will update us on that, but by the fact that he had to leave the field, I think it was quite serious,” he concluded.
