Orlando Pirates coach Augusto Palacios clarifies Brighton Mhlongo omission

Posted: 20 November 2016 Time: 09:41

Orlando Pirates caretaker coach Augusto Palacios has explained the absence of number one goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo for their win over Free State Stars last night at Orlando Stadium.

Jackson Mabokgwane made his debut in between the sticks whilst Siyabonga Mpontshane was on the bench as the Buccaneers managed a narrow 1-0 win over Ea Lla Koto courtesy of a first-half Tendai Ndoro strike

Palacios says the reason Mhlongo was not even present in the matchday squad was because he returned from national duty having picked up a stomach bug.

"Brighton is sick," 'Njenje' tells KickOff.com. "He is still in bed. He is suffering from diarrhoea he got with Bafana Bafana in Mozambique."
