SuperSport United's Cole Alexander eyes Bafana Bafana return

Posted: 16 November 2016 Time: 11:03

SuperSport United midfielder Cole Alexander is hoping to force his way back into Bafana Bafana reckoning when he returns from injury.

“That’s obviously my objective as I feel I have a lot to offer for my country," says Alexander, who earned his sole international cap in a 3-1 win over Swaziland in March 2015.

"But for now I need to recover fully and work hard so that I can get the nod."

Alexander is nearing full fitness after straining a hamstring in his club's 6-1 rout of Orlando Pirates a fortnight ago. And the former Polokwane City man is trying to stay positive following the setback.

“The timing of the break could not have come at a better time. It was really a blessing in disguise, you know," he tells KickOff.com.

“It gave me some time to recover after my setback and to start my rehab. I was very disappointed when I had to leave the field as I felt I was getting back to my best and then I hurt my hammy again.

“But that’s one aspect of soccer you cannot escape. I always try to remain positive under difficult circumstances. I’m just relieved it’s only a strain and not a tear and I had at least time to get back and not really miss a game.”

In-form Matsatsantsa next host Baroka FC in the league at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
