Daine Klate: Bafana on the front foot after victory over Senegal in World Cup qualifying

Posted: 12 November 2016 Time: 19:26

Daine Klate believes Bafana Bafana's 2-1 win over Senegal puts them on the front foot for their next World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde Islands.

Bafana, who drew their Group D opener 1-1 in Burkina Faso, saw off the Teranga Lions via first-half goals from Thulani Hlatshwayo and Thulani Serero in Polokwane on Saturday.

"I think it was a fantastic result for us," said Klate, who replaced Serero with 10 minutes to go at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

"It was very, very important first and foremost to get the three points at home. We have to take advantage of these types of games. The fans came out in their numbers and as a team we performed as well.

"I think it puts us on the front foot in the group now going away to Cape Verde Islands in our next game," concluded the Bidvest Wits attacker.
