Free State Stars have been dealt a major blow with captain Paulus Masehe unable to take part in competitive action for the remainder of the year after suffering an injury to his thigh.
Masehe sustained the injury during Ea Lla Koto's Telkom Knockout victory over Kaizer Chiefs and was replaced by David Booysen early in the game.
The former Orlando Pirates player will be forced to undergo surgery as the adductor magnus injury he suffered is deemed to be quite serious.
The 33-year-old Masehe now joins Chris Mafoumbi, Sinethemba Jantjie, Joseph Okumu and Tholang Lwana in the treatment room in Bethlehem - the quintet are all suffering from long term problems.
Meanwhile, midfielder Katlego Mashego and striker Moeketsi Sekola also sustained minor strains against Amakhosi but will be back in action within the fortnight.
