Siphelele Mthembu looks certain to leave Kaizer Chiefs during the January transfer window with two of his former clubs Bloemfontein Celtic and Platinum Stars engaged.
Mthembu was transfer-listed during the off-season but found no takers before the close of the August transfer window leaving him to negotiate his way back into contention.
So far that bid to get himself back into the team has failed dismally and KickOff.com has got word that his handlers are making all efforts to make sure that he is out of Naturena in January instead of continuing in the stands.
Such is the 29-year-old’s situation at Chiefs that he is battling to get into the team even when Lewis Macha and Camaldine Abraw are out injured.
Mthembu is yet to play or even sit on the bench as a substitute so far this season.
That bleak situation is what has prompted the need to move him in January with word having been put in at two of his former clubs, Celtic and Stars. Maritzburg United have also been spoken to.
With Chiefs keen to allow him to leave, Mthembu’s destination will depend on issues around his package, which has improved since he joined Amakhosi.
He has the option of taking a cut on his earnings in order for a move to happen which will enable him to at least get to play through the second half of the season.
