Tashreeq Morris feels luck has evaded Ajax Cape Town

Ajax Cape Town attacker Tashreeq Morris feels lady luck has deserted his Cape club following their winless start this season.

Ajax is still in search of their first victory of the Absa Premier League campaign after suffering their fifth loss of the season when they suffered defeat to SuperSport United on the weekend.

The Urban Warriors are languishing in the 15th position with only two points from two draws in seven matches.

According to Under-23 international Morris, Ajax have to remain patient and focused on the task ahead and keep on plugging away.

“We have to now more than ever be united in our cause to turn things around,” Morris told KickOff.com.

“Despite our terrible record thus far, we haven’t been playing badly. It’s also not a confidence issue because we as players are positive despite our position on the log. We know that we are one win away from turning the corner.

“We’re also creating chances, but converting them is currently a challenge for us. In my opinion, lady luck has deserted us at this moment and we are aware it’s not ideal for the club and the fans.”

Morris feels the Urban Warriors will have to be at their best when they face Free State Stars on Wednesday in their Absa Premiership tie at Goble Park, in what will be new coach Stanley Menzo’s first full game in charge.

“A win in this game could be the catalyst to turn things around for our season, but we know it’s not going to be easy,” he said. “Just look at what they did to Wits in the Telkom Knockout.

“We are under no illusion about the challenge that awaits us. However, we have bigger concerns and we must overcome them. The new coach has given a good talk and assured things will come right.”
