Magesi FC CEO John Mathibe has explained the rationale behind appointing Zimbabwean coach Shepherd Murape as their new coach ahead of other potential candidates.
According to Mathibe the newly appointed mentor has in the past shown a willingness to join the side and has made enquiries about the job before.
Murape arrived at the Limpopo team to replace the dismissed Jackie Ledwaba and oversaw his first training session this morning.
"He [Murape] has been calling me for a long time asking to be part of us, he is the one who approached me," Mathibe tells KickOff.com.
He really wanted the job but because we didn't have any plans to change our technical team we couldn't do that.
Mathibe went on to underline the good qualities of his new hire with his ability to instill discipline foremost among his attributes.
"The reason I was impressed by his CV is because I prefer a coach who sends a professional message to the players," he explains.
"We needed someone who has discipline. Coming from the ABC Motsepe league we have lots of young boys who are still ill-disciplined, but we've learnt our lesson and got the message that this is not a league for popeyes."
The CEO also confirmed to this website that there'll be some new players arriving at the club this week, but it will be the coach who decides who will be brought in.
"Yes, this week there'll be some new faces arriving. The coach is the one who will decide as he has been watching the team for the past three games. As management we can't get involve in things like that," Mathibe concludes.
