Bantu Mzwakali: Ajax Cape Town must respond after defeat to SuperSport United

Posted: 31 October 2016 Time: 11:14

Ajax Cape Town midfielder Bantu Mzwakali says the players must take responsibility for the club's poor start to the season.

Ajax are yet to win in 2016/17, earning two points from seven league games and exiting the Telkom Knockout at the first hurdle.

The Urban Warriors, who replaced head coach Roger de Sa with Stanley Menzo last week, lost 2-0 to SuperSport United in their latest defeat on the weekend.

“I think we tried our best especially in the final third, we just failed to use our chances,” Mzwakali said.

“We are not going to give up, we will keep on pushing and we know that something will come up.

“As football players we should take responsibility, each and everyone needs to step up for the team. If we are all able to do that then it will all be okay.”

Menzo, the former head of youth at Ikamva, will start his reign in the hotseat on Wednesday against Free State Stars at Goble Park Stadium.

Assistant coach Mich d’Avray oversaw the defeat to Matsatsantsa at Cape Town Stadium.
