Happy ‘Magents’ Jele says Orlando Pirates players’ mentality is always wired towards winning every game, with tomorrow’s latest edition of the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs no exception.
Ahead of this hugely anticipated clash which has a tendency of turning into a damp squib, Jele is raving up the excitement.
“Our mentality when we get to the field is to get all the three points,” says Jele, who has spent a decade with the Buccaneers.
“Sometimes you come into a game where the opponents are well organised and they are trying not to lose the game and they try to catch you on the counter. If they score we are going to try not to lose the game and get a draw because they are well organised on that day which means we cannot break through to them and get some chances,” he notes.
He also makes it known that in as much as they have prepared well they are aware of the pressure that comes with playing in this fixture which has a television audience stretching into 10s of millions.
“The preparations have gone well and the technical team have done their best so that on the day we come out victorious. So far, so good and even the mood in the team is very good with everyone well. I believe that we are focused for the game on Saturday and we are going to do our job. There is always pressure when you are playing for a big team because each and every team that comes to play against you wants to beat you.
“Obviously with Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs when they play there is always pressure against each other but for me I don’t think the pressure will be hard for me because I have been playing under pressure all the time. So I think it is going to be easy for me and obviously I have just to enjoy the game the way I want it. Even so you still need to have a little bit of nerves when going to play so that you can calm yourself down and enjoy the game so that you get the results for the fans,” says Jele.
Kick-off is 15h30 and the venue is FNB Stadium.
