Bidvest Wits midfielder Xola Mlambo admits a "huge turnaround" in his career and has set his sights on a Bafana Bafana call-up.
Less than a year into his professional career, Mlambo has taken the PSL by storm since his arrival at Bidvest Wits during the recent off-season.
Wits visit a struggling Ajax Cape Town at the Cape Town Stadium this evening, looking to bounce back from their Telkom Knockout Cup first round elimination and hoping to continue their unbeaten run in the Absa Premiership.
The 25-year-old, who recently picked up his first piece of silverware after playing a pivotal role in the Clever Boys' MTN8 triumph, admits his career has taken off in the past 12 months.
"There has been a huge turnaround in my career over the last year," Mlambo tells KICK OFF Magazine. "I have really grown and the learning process has been massive."
"It continues [now at Wits] because I am now under a different coach, with a different philosophy, yet that still doesn't dilute the fact that I want to achieve a lot of things."
The former Chippa United midfielder has featured in all but two fixtures, due to an unfortunate red card suspension, since his arrival at Sturrock Park, and has formed a formidable partnership with fellow newcomer Thabang Monare.
Having already recieved high praise for his displays thus far, Mlambo has now set his sights on collecting more silverware as well as a place in the national team.
"This is only the beginning. Now that I have had a taste of silverware I want to have more of this kind of success," he adds.
"I still have dreams of getting to the national team and moving abroad."
The Dobsonville-born anchorman, though, has had his fair share of trials and tribulations before making it to the big league. Find out more about his journey in the latest KICK OFF Magazine (Issue 475) – on sale now! Or download a digital copy here.
