Orlando Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral says Luvuyo Memela was encouraged to try shooting with his right foot before netting the winner against Golden Arrows in the Telkom Knockout.
Bucs beat Arrows 2-1 at Orlando Stadium on Sunday, with Memela's 74th minute solo goal deciding matters after Wayde Jooste cancelled out Mpho Makola's early opener for the Sea Robbers.
"We spoke to Memela about using his right foot at half-time because he kept trying to force his left. It worked nicely," Ertugral is quoted as saying by his club.
Ertugral went on to praise the performance of defenders Happy Jele and Edwin Gyimah, with the latter back in the Turk's favour following a bust-up last month.
"We were good today. Jele is tactically great at centre-back, Gyimah is an international and he is a fighter. You can't bench that.
"We have great players who are strategically good, but still need to understand how to make that work better together."
The former Kaizer Chiefs boss felt his side should have wrapped up the last-16 tie inside 20 minutes in Soweto.
"It was one of those games that should have been over after 20 minutes. We were never in any danger.
"We didn't take all our chances, but maybe we're saving them for next week," he added referring to next weekend's Soweto Derby with Chiefs at FNB Stadium.
The Buccaneers joined Amakhosi, SuperSport United, Baroka FC, Free State Stars, Highlands Park and Cape Town City in the next round of the TKO.
Mamelodi Sundowns will battle Polokwane City on Thursday for the remaining last-eight berth.
