Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo has set his sights on lifting the Telkom Knockout Cup in celebration of the club's upcoming 80th anniversary.

Their first task in this season's lague cup will be to overcome a Golden Arrows outfit, who currently occupy second spot on the Absa premiership log, in vastly different form to their 3-1 defeat to The Buccaneers in their league opener.

Mhlongo has also called on his teammates to make amends for their MTN8 first round exit at the hands of eventual champions Bidvest Wits.

"Firstly it's a great opportunity for us to amend how we exited the MTN8 – we want to quickly forget about that and regroup as a team," said the Bucs number one.

"It's very important, since it's the 80th anniversary of the club, for us to repay the chairman's [irvin Khoza] faith in us with some silverware.

"But, obviously, we want to take it one game at a time and, in doing so, just focus on the Golden Arrows game for now."

The 25-year-old Bafana Bafana shotstopper, however, admits that it will not be an easy task to overcome Abafana Bes'thende and calls for a cautious yet positive approach on Sunday afternoon.

"It's going to be a dificult game [because] they are on a high, and they are doing well," he added.

"We need to be cautious and approach the game with a positive mindset, but with more caution given the fact that they are doing well."

Mhlongo aslo feels confindent in their preparations for the clash, and believes the players need to remain patient with themselves under new coach Muhsin Ertugral.

"I think we have also been preparing well and things are coming along okay. We are preparing well as a team and we are starting to gel as a team, so we just have to be patient with ourselves and take it one game at a time.

"It's going to be a very difficult game but, with the preperation that we are undertaking as a team, we are definitely positive that we are going to put out a good showing," concluded the Pirates academy graduate.

The clash is scheduled to kick-off at 15h00 at Orlando Stadium on SUnday afternoon, with tickets available at Ticketpros outlets.
