Kaizer Chiefs left-back Sibusiso Khumalo believes it will be easier to prepare for Maritzburg United this time around.
Chiefs host Maritzburg on Saturday evening (20h15) at FNB Stadium in a Telkom Knockout first-round tie, with Amakhosi especially eager to claim silverware after reaching the final last season.
Just last month the clubs met in a league match at the same venue with Chiefs running away 2-0 winners.
As Steve Komphela plans the downfall of his former club, his opposite number Ernst Middendorp will be doing the same against the first club that he coached when he arrived in the PSL in 2005.
“It is easy for us to study how they play and plan against them [Maritzburg],” Khumalo tells KickOff.com.
“Our coach has previously coached Maritzburg so he knows them well. We recently played against them and won that game, since we won that game it is definitely not going to be an easy game.
“They will be out for revenge against us but I am happy that we were drawn against them because it means we know what we are dealing with.”
Khumalo has moved ahead of Tsepo Masilela as Komphela's preferred choice at left-back in the four games that Chiefs have won this season.
