SAFA president Danny Jordaan believes Amajimbos' march to the BRICS U-17 tournament final in Goa, India shows 'Vision 2022' is on track.
The national U-17 team will battle Brazil for honours on Saturday after overcoming Russia 3-1 today courtesy of goals from Lyle Forster, Mswati Mavuso and Luke Le Roux.
Molefi Ntseki's charges have a chance to avenge a 3-0 loss they suffered to the South Americans on Tuesday.
"The fundamental philosophy of Vision 2022 is constantly competing and doing well in continental and global tournaments and our junior teams are doing exactly that," said Jordaan.
"We meet Brazil in the final and matches between South Africa and Brazil in whatever competition or stage group are always unpredictable and explosive and this one should be no exception.
"Our U-20s defied all odds at the Commonwealth tournament in Russia two years ago and I believe the U-17s will bring the trophy home. I want to wish them all the best."
Jordaan also took delight from the national U-20 side qualifying for the Junior AFCON in Zambia next year.
He added: "Amajita and Amajimbos are our future and their performances in continental and global tournaments bode well for the country through our Vision 2022."
Amajimbos will play Brazil at Fatorda Stadium (kick-off: 12h00 SA time) after Russia and China tussle for bronze at the same venue (KO: 06h30 SA time).
