Moeneeb Josephs says fellow Bidvest Wits 'keeper Darren Keet deserves to be back in Bafana Bafana squad

Former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs believes Darren Keet should have been afforded a spot in the national team.

The two shot-stoppers are currently competing for the number one jersey at Bidvest Wits with Keet currently occupying the space between the sticks.

The 27-year-old grabbed his chance with both hands after Josephs was red carded during Wits' MTN8 semi-final against Cape Town City in Johannesburg on September 10.

Josephs was resigned to watching on from the bench as Keet pulled off some good stops to help The Clever Boys claim the MTN8 trophy against Mamelodi Sundowns at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.

"Keet is a wonderful keeper. He played for five years in Europe. He is one of the best goalkeepers and you media, you don't put him up," Josephs tells

"He deserves to be in the national team and is yet to concede a goal at Wits."

Former Orlando Pirates gloveman Josephs reaffirms that he is fully behind his compatriot, focusing solely on what is best for his club side.

"There is no competition. We are here to help the team. He took his chance and I am here to support him," says Josephs.
