Ajax Cape Town goalkeeper Brandon Petersen eyes overseas move and Bafana impact

Ajax Cape Town shot-stopper Brandon Petersen has set his sights on becoming the country's number one goalkeeper and moving abroad.

The 22-year-old has been guarding the Ajax goal since Finland's Anssi Jaakkola moved to English side Reading in the off-season.

“In the next five years, my ambition is to obviously go overseas,” Petersen told his club's website. “My focus isn’t really on five years' time, but to take each season one step at a time.

“If you do that, it is like what coach said: ‘It is like a hippo; you can’t eat it at once, you have to take it one bite at a time.’

“I believe, that the more I play, the more I will improve and the bigger benefit it will be for me – my chances will be better to go overseas.”

He added: “Obviously, to also break into the national team and, in the future, be the number one goalkeeper of the country.”
