Maritzburg undone by Polokwane

Posted: 27 September 2016 Time: 18:20

Maritzburg United suffered a third straight loss with a 1-0 defeat to high-flying Polokwane City at Harry Gwala Stadium on Tuesday night.

City's Puleng Tlolane, Thobani Mncwango and Rodney Ramagalela threatened in a goalless first half, while Zimbabwean striker Evans Rusike wasted a one-on-one opportunity on the half-hour mark for the hosts.

Rise and Shine, however, decided affairs in the 67th minute courtesy of a powerful strike from substitute Sipho Jembula.

A second straight win saw the visitors rise to joint-second on the Absa Premiership table with eight points from five games - a point behind Golden Arrows, and level with next opponents Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City.
