Ajax Cape Town hope to emulate Orlando Pirates performance

Ajax Cape Town captain Travis Graham hopes his side will emulate their performance against Orlando Pirates in Tuesday’s encounter against Polokwane City.

The Urban Warriors were 2-1 losers against the Bucs last week, yet put out a solid team performance which their skipper hopes they can repeat ahead of the league fixture against Rise and Shine on Tuesday.

"The performance against Pirates was good, but as a team we know it’s pointless playing well and not getting the result,” Graham told reporters. “So going into the Polokwane City match, we are wanting to play as well as we did against Pirates, but most importantly looking for those three points and make use of our home advantage and make the most of it.”

Coach Roger de Sa admits that motivating his charges following the big clash against Pirates proves challenges, but hopes his side will raise their game as they did against the Soweto giants last week.

“For us, these are the games that really matter – these are the games where we should do well, and collect the points, but are the ones that are tough to motivate – after Pirates, how do you get the team going again? That’s the difficulty of it, is that you have try play up this game a bit and get to their best again,” De Sa said. “You can only wish you can dress them up as in the Pirates game and let them come out again.

“So it’s a test of character, but we have to be at our best, and hopefully we will give a similar performance to what we did against Pirates.”

Kick-off at Cape Town Stadium is set for 19:30.
