Chiefs held by Dikwena

A win still eludes Kaizer Chiefs as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Platinum Stars at the FNB Stadium although they have reason to feel aggrieved by the result.
The visitors took the lead in controversial fashion midway through the opening stanza as Robert Ng'ambi's fierce effort failed to cross the line but was still awarded as a goal.
Chiefs hit back in the second half as Hendrick Ekstein got a shot away in the area and a deflection looped it into goal.
Earlier in the game there had been chances for both teams as Ndumiso Mabena fired in a shot on the half volley that tested Itumeleng Khune.
Mabena went close again when gifted an opportunity at the edge of the area but his effort was cleared off the line and Chiefs broke quickly, almost pinching one at the other end.
The deadlock was broken in the 21st minute but the goal should never have stood as Ng'ambi's shot, tipped onto the crossbar by Khune, did not cross the line when it came down.
The referee was unequivocal in pointing for the spot and Chiefs were behind although conceding seemed to spur them into life.
Mphahlele found himself in an advanced position up field but when the ball fell to him he took a shy from a tight angle and was woefully off target.
Another defender was in the thick of it moments later but the returning Erick Mathoho's header was tame and straight at the keeper.
Chirambadare then did well to drive into the box but couldn't beat Mzimela at his near post as his side went into the break still trailing.
On the other side of the interval Chiefs looked a lot brighter than in the first stanza but were vunerable on the counter.
One such counter opportunity presented a chance to Ng'ambi whose handle in the area was not picked up by the official but fortunately for Chiefs did not result in a second goal.
At the other end Williard Katsande got his head to corner but fluffed the chance having perhaps been put off slightly by Gordinho going for the same ball.
As the game entered the final 20 minutes of play the pressure finally paid off for the hosts as Stars' inability to get the ball away from danger presented a chance for Ekstein to fire a deflected shot past Mzimela.
Following the leveller Stars grew into the game once again and had a chance courtesy of Nhlapo's great flicked header but Khune denied him.
Chiefs piled on the pressure as the game neared its end but could not find the back of the net for a second time.
