Moon ready for test in Spain

Bafana Bafana midfielder Bryce Moon tells KickOff.com that he and his teammates at Panathinaïkos are ready to put up a good showing in the Uefa Champions League knockout stages which get underway next week.

Moon will resume his dream of emulating the success achieved by Bafana striker Benni McCarthy in the European tournament with FC Porto a few years back when his team travels to Spain to face Villarreal in the first leg of the competition.

Speaking to KickOff.com from Greece last night, the former Ajax Cape Town midfielder expressed confidence that his team would have a good trip to Spain on Wednesday.

“This is an exciting stage of the tournament and no team is ready to fall out. Participating in this tournament means a lot to me and playing in the Champions League will already go down as one of my best achievements in my career.

“We are geared up for the game against Villarreal and all my teammates are determined to come back with the victory.

“If I am given the chance to play, I will do my best; not only for my team, but also for all the South Africans fans and my family back home.”

Moon adds that he has put behind him the disappointment of failing to land a contract in England after his deal with Barclays Premiership club, West Ham, fell through.

“My manager is the only one who can comment on that issue. In any case, I have already forgotten about it and am now concentrating on doing well for my team here in Greece.”

How can a player like this, who perform in the best football competition be left out of a starting place in Bafana?

This totally boggles my mind! Gaxa is such a shit player and still he’s first choice, this is all Pitso’s doing!! (he’s another Jomo Sono)

I smell favoritism….. this needs to stop.

It’s really starting to look as if coloured and white players needs to sit back while black players get first opportunity.

Players that really needs to be playing for our country regularly. (and I’m not being racist in any way)

Moon
Booth
Surman (the Southamton star)
Furman (plays regularly for his team) SAFA needs to do their job and get this player to represent his country
Patterson (regular starter)
Buckley (by far the best left wing)
Fernandez ( the only player capable of replacing Hans Vonk)
Carnell (starting to show cracks in his game, but deserves to be the squad)
Van Herrden (by far our best attacking player)

Take all these players and immigrate to Britain or america, form a club and call it "the Bombers".Otherwise good luck to Moon, i like it when you overlap son, but improve your defensive skills.

Re: Reiccye
Yes he doesn't deserve not to be in the starting line up and beffles me also as to why everyone thinks that Bryce moon is a defender because he is not look at him at his club next week (no player with such speed, skills and a perfect crosser like him should be waisted at right back) and besides hes body stature doesn't allow him to be a defender.

My taking is that santana and Pitso are not at the required level of choaching a national team e.g how can they play Mokeona at the back when he doesn't play there at club level or can they not see he is far too slow, none the less.

Santana should not be playing Teko as a winger, he should infact he should never call Nkosi ever again and he must let Teko take Nkosi's place and put Moon on the right but still we cannot leave Van Heerden out so that might be a good headache for the coach if he was clever enough.

Buckly is way past hes sell by date at 32 and Tshabala is only playing there because we have no left wingers in SA period. But Tshabala is as stupid as they come when it comes to knowledge of how to play the game (he lacks the ABC of futbal)

Gaxa is very goo actually and is a versitile player.

Surman - Crap (second division player)
Furman - Unheard of (which team does he play for
again) Exactly!!!!!!
Patterson - also plays for whic club!!!!!!!
Exactly

Vernades yes he is good and has the experience no dispute there.

But Riccye also lacks futball knowledge (with your comment and those players you mantioned SA would be ranked 158 in the world.

Cheers
