SuperSport United's new recruit Aubrey Modiba is happy to have joined the Pretoria-based side as he believes they will serve as a springboard for a move abroad in the future.
The 21-year-old acknowledges that he is well served at a side like Matsatsantsa in his pursuit of transfer to a European team and even has the support of the club's CEO.
"I spoke to the boss of SuperSport [Stanley Matthews] a week before I signed with them so he explained some of the things for me so I was interested in joining them," Modiba told reporters.
"Stanley Matthews explained some of the details of how to make it abroad and that's why I ended up joining SuperSport because I really want to go abroad and gain experience so with me being here that will happen sooner than I expected."
Modiba also outlined a timeframe for his dream to materialise: "In the next three years I want to see myself playing abroad for one of the big teams in Europe."
Strong performances at national team level are also bound to get the 2015/16 Absa Premiership Young Player of the Season noticed and Modiba is grateful for the opportunities he was afforded in the senior set-up recently.
The former Mpumalanga Black Aces player was included in Shakes Mashaba's squad for Bafana Bafana's two most recent games and was grateful to have made his debut against Mauritania.
"It was a dream come true. I've been wanting to play for my national team at the senior level because I started with the Under-23s. I'm happy that I've been doing well for the national team and I hope to be a regular," Modiba said.
"The experience was good getting to work with the players who have been there before and obviously carrying the nation on top of your shoulders."
