Bidvest Wits midfielder Sifiso Myeni says he was humbled by the reception he ran out to at Bidvest Stadium on Saturday night.

Myeni receiving a standing ovation when he replaced Elias Pelembe 72 minutes into a 3-0 win over Cape Town City in the first leg of an MTN8 semi-final.

The 28-year-old returned to Wits on transfer-deadline day following a four-year spell with Orlando Pirates.

"I felt good," Myeni tells KickOff.com when asked about his 'second debut' for the Clever Boys.

"I would like to thank the supporters for showing their appreciation. I appreciate it so much and it motivates me to work extra hard.

"It was great to play my first game at home and yes it was great to receive such a reception from the supporters."

The Soweto-born winger says he is still working towards full fitness.

"The coach gave me the last 20 minutes to get my fitness level up. It was a little bit difficult after Moeneeb got the red card and that means I had to work harder.

"Overall I think I gave it my best shot. It was good that we won and also important that we didn't allow them to score."
