Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler says he's very happy to have acquired the services of SuperSport United's Thato Mokeke and feels his versatility will be key.
The 26-year-old former Ajax Cape Town player recently completed a season long loan move to City, with Tinkler well-pleased with the new acquisition.
"I'm very happy to have Mokeke with us," Tinkler told KickOff.com.
"His versatility is key - when he was playing for Ajax he was used as a centre-back, left-back and he played on the left side of midfield.
"So it’s good to have such versatility, especially with (Aubrey) Modiba that's gone to SuperSport.
"Mokeke needs to be patient as he'll definitely get his opportunity.”
City face Bidvest Wits on Saturday in the first leg of their semi-final encounter of the lucrative MTN8 competition, and Tinkler insists there will be no love lost when he squares up against his former club.
"I suppose there is always a bit of nostalgia when playing against your former club," Tinkler explains.
"It’s going to be a massive task as Wits has shown during the past four seasons that they are right up there.
"But I'm a competitor and don't shy away from a challenge. There'll be no friendship on Saturday when we face them.”
