Orlando Pirates communication manager Mickey Modisane has appealed to the club’s supporters to keep the faith in goalkeeping duo Moeneeb Josephs and Senzo Meyiwa, who have come under fire following some high-profile errors.
Fans have been up in arms after Meyiwa’s schoolboy blunder cost Bucs two points against Bay United, before Josephs’ error against on Sunday handed Moroka Swallows a 2-1 win.
Modisane says goalkeeper coach Williams Okpara is working hard with the two and is confident the errors are a thing of teh past.
“There is no goalkeeper in PSL who willingly makes mistakes,” he says. “We have to remember, these guys are only human and will make mistakes. Yes, they have made some simple mistakes, but we urge our supporters to stand by them and give them their full backing. Abusing them will not help anyone.”
Modisane also mentioned that Pirates are set to return to their home venue, Coca-Cola Park Stadium, for the Absa Premiership clash against Free State Stars this weekend. However, they will still be without the likes of Lebohang Mothibantwa, Bennett Chenene and Benson Mhlongo, who are nursing injuries.
