Helder Pelembe reveals what went wrong at Golden Arrows

Posted: 6 September 2016 Time: 13:23

Former Orlando Pirates striker Helder Pelembe, now a free agent, has explained to KickOff.com the events surrounding his failure to join Golden Arrows in the off-season.

Arrows CEO Gordon Masondo recently told this website that the Mozambican was unable to win over Clinton Larsen's technical team during a trial in Durban.

However, Pelembe takes a different view and says Abafana Bes'thende's management claimed they could not agree terms with Pirates.

"It's not about that [failing to impress] because coach Larsen knew me from Celtic, so I had nothing to prove to him because he knew me enough. They [Arrows management] told me there was no agreement between them and Pirates, but now I'm free," the 28-year-old told KickOff.com.

Pelembe is currently keeping fit at the Africa Sport Youth Development Academy in Sandringham, Johannesburg and hopes to find a team soon.

When asked if he had any preferences as to what club he'd like to play for the striker replied: "I'm not sure about that. But I prefer somewhere I can enjoy my soccer without problems. My agent is busy with that."
