Posted: 31 August 2016 Time: 13:53

South African-born Joel Untersee is to join Italian Serie B club Brescia on loan from Juventus for the coming season.

The 22-year-old has found his path to the starting line-up blocked in Turin by Brazilian international Dani Alves and Swiss star Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Untersee, himself a Swiss junior international, has opted to get game-time a division below.

The Roodeport-born fullback was also sounded out by top-flight Palermo and another Serie B team, Avellino.

Untersee was identified by Juventus in 2011 and joined their academy that year, but has yet to wear the famous black and white stripes of the Turin club in a competitive fixture.

He has spent the last two-and-a-half seasons on loan at Swiss league side Vaduz, who are actually from Liechtenstein. He has yet to feature for the Swiss senior national side so he would be available for Bafana Bafana if selected.
