Defender Thamsanqa Teyise could sign with Cape Town City before the transfer window slams shut at midnight on Wednesday.
Teyise has surfaced in Cape Town where he is trying his luck with the new Premier Soccer League franchise.
The Johannesburg-born defender is still under contract with SuperSport United, but is not in the plans of coach Stuart Baxter this season.
According to a source close to City, Teyise has made a good impression during his trial period with the club.
"He is waiting for the club to make a call but has done well during the trials," the source said.
City coach Eric Tinkler hinted last week that one more signing may be made by the club.
The Mother City team have started their first two games of the season, wins over Polokwane City (2-0) and Kaizer Chiefs (1-0) with Tshepo Gumede and Renars Rode.
They also have the experienced Robyn Johannes and Ghanaian youngster Joseph Adjei.
Teyise spent last season on loan at Maritzburg United having joined SuperSport from AmaZulu in 2014.
