Bidvest Wits captain Thulani Hlatshwayo praises Xola Mlambo, Thabang Monare

Bidvest Wits captain Thulani Hlatshwayo has praised the team's new central midfield combination of Xola Mlambo and Thabang Monare.

The Clever Boys completed back-to-back victories over Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in the space of four days, with new signings Mlambo and Monare playing key roles in the middle of the park.

Hlatshwayo believes the club's management did well to bring the duo in to strengthen the team as they look to secure their first piece of silverware since their Nedbank Cup triumph in 2010.

"Obviously they are good players, you know. They are ball players," said 'Tyson'.

"Obviously they've just joined the team and they are already doing well for the team, so I think they are a good addition to the team."

Though he admits it comes as boost to beat both Pirates and Chiefs in quick isuccession, the 26-year-old skipper also warns against complacency and calls on his teammates to continue their hard work against the so-called 'smaller teams'.

"Obviously we feel good [after beating Pirates] but we have to take each game as it comes," he adds. "When we get chances we've used them, unlike last season when we created chances but didn't use them.

"It's a boost [to beat both Soweto teams] but we still have to play Pirates in the league [on September 24] so it's important that we don't underestimate teams that are still coming at us and think we are there, and we are going to challenge [for the Absa Premiership title].

"There are still other teams that we need to play and we just need to keep on working hard and doing what we're doing."

Wits will next welcome Cape Town City to Bidvest Stadium for the first leg of their MTN8 semi-final on the weekend of September 10/11.
