Hacken: Tefu Mashamaite has joined SuperSport United

Posted: 30 August 2016 Time: 10:49

The sporting director of Swedish side Hacken has confirmed that Tefu Mashamaite has signed for SuperSport United.

Sonny Karlsson told Expressen that the player is returning to South Africa because he had failed to settle in Sweden and was homesick.

“Sometimes life comes before football,” Karlsson said. “He has his children in South Africa and is homesick.”

Mashamaite scored for Hacken on Sunday in what proved to be his final appearance for the side, who are fifth in the Swedish league.

The 31-year-old, who was named PSL Player of the Year in the 2014/15 season after helping Kaizer Chiefs to the league title, spent four months on the sidelines earlier this year with a knee injury.

In all he made 17 appearances for Hacken in a year at the club, netting two goals.

Matsatsantsa have called a 12h30 press conference today to make a 'player announcement'.
