Cardiff City have released South African midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi after the termination of his contract.

The two parties have parted ways following a mutual aggreement, the club announced on Friday afternoon.

"Cardiff City can confirm that Kagisho Dikgacoi’s contract with the club has been terminated by mutual agreement," read a statement on their website.

"The player leaves Cardiff City with immediate effect. We would like to thank Kagisho for his contribution and wish him the very best for his future."

'KG' was set to see his contract at the Bluebirds run out at the end of the current season, after joining from Crystal Palace on a three-year deal in 2014.

The former Bafana Bafana hardman has been linked with a return to the PSL, with Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns reportedly interested in his services.
