Shu-Aib Walters is to return in goal for Cape Town City's MTN8 clash with Kaizer Chiefs

Eric Tinkler has confirmed that experienced goalkeeper Shu-Aib Walters will be between the sticks for the club’s MTN8 quarterfinal at home to Kaizer Chiefs in Friday.

Walters was suspended for City’s Premier Soccer League opener against Polokwane City, where the 21-year-old Samora Motloung excelled in a 2-0 win for the new franchise.

But Tinkler says Walters is the undisputed number one and will return to face Chiefs.

“Samora was fantastic, I thought he did an exceptional job,” Tinkler said. “Few people realise that was his top-flight debut. At [Orlando] Pirates he played in a few [MultiChoice] Diski matches and the rest of his career has been in the National First Division.

“But Shu-Aib is our number one, he had a fantastic season with Black Aces last year. Samora knows and understands that. He’s young and will get better.”
