Golden Arrows explain why Helder Pelembe was not signed

Posted: 25 August 2016 Time: 16:08

KickOff.com has learned that Mozambican striker Helder Pelembe's move to Golden Arrows failed to materialise because he did not do enough to impress coach Clinton Larsen.

The 28-year-old spent a few weeks in KwaZulu Natal training with Abafana Bes'thende but was let go as he did not fit the team's style of play according to Arrows CEO Gordon Masondo.

"He is no longer here. He was training with us and the coaches were not happy with him. He failed to impress so we had to let him go," he revealed.

"It's more than 3 weeks now since he left. He was simply not what we expected, he didn't fit in our style of play."

Masondo went on to compliment the team for their display against Orlando Pirates despite the fact that they lost 3-1.

"We are happy with yesterday's performance, we were all over Pirates," he said. "In the first half alone we created six clear chances but unfortunately we couldn't bury them.

"We only managed to score in the second half and it was an equaliser, that's the only thing we'll have to rectify."
