Chippa United downplay Thamsanqa Sangweni handing armband to James Okwuosa and Bongani Ndulula absence

Chippa United official Luthando Zibeko insist there is no captaincy issue at the club nor untoward reason for Bongani Ndulula's absence in the 2-1 win over Free State Stars.

The Chilli Boys last week announced Thamsanqa Sangweni would lead the side this season, starting with the clash against Stars in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday.

However, James Okwuosa took over the armband midway through the first half at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

"There is no issue, there is no issue," team manager Zibeko told KickOff.com when asked about the matter.

Ndulula, who joined Chippa from Kaizer Chiefs in the off-season, was left out of the match-day squad as fellow striker Rhulani Manzini hit a brace against Ea Lla Koto.

"You can only see 11 players and we have about 31 players in the team," Zibeko added.

"If Ndulula is not there does it make news? Yes, there were 18 players that were picked and Ndulula was not part of the team."
