Ajax Cape Town coach Roger de Sa expects more from Tashreeq Morris

Ajax Cape Town coach Roger de Sa expects South Africa U-23 striker Tashreeq Morris to regain his old form this season after missing most of last term with a knee injury.

Morris arrived back in South Africa yesterday along with clubmates Rivaldo Coetzee and Jody February following the national side's first-round elimination from the Rio Olympics in Brazil.

Morris endured a seven-month layoff in 2015/16, with De Sa conceding the 22-year-old was still some way off his best on his return for the Urban Warriors.

“Many people will remember the Nedbank Cup final against Sundowns where he got injured and spent six to seven months out," De Sa told Ajax's website.

“He went on a massive rehabilitation programme here and came back in the second half of the season for us, but we didn’t see the best of him just yet. He’s got a long way to go.

“But in the end he did well enough to get a call-up to the Olympics. We are all very happy for him. Our boys have done their best to make us proud and we certainly are very proud of all of them,” concluded De Sa, who has been impressed with the team's new signings in pre-season.
