Orlando Pirates SC chairman Ali Akan says his club is ready to take both Jomo Cosmos and Safa to Fifa as the Namibian club seek compensation for goalkeeper Thabo Modiba.
Cosmos was found guilty of incorrectly registering Modiba with the PSL without international clearance from Namibia, with the case was taken to Safa’s Disciplinary Committe. Ezenkosi were fined R200 000 for the offense and instructed to pay the arbitration fees to Pirates, which included travelling expenses of the two witnesses from Namibia.
Akan says his club, with the help of the Namibian Football Association, have written to Safa seeking compensation from Cosmos for the transfer fees as well as the travelling expenses to attend the arbitration in Johannesburg, but to no avail.
"We have written letters to Safa and we are not getting any response," Akan tells KickOff.com from Namibia. "We have still not been paid for the travelling expenses to South Africa.
"The player was still contracted to us when he signed for Cosmos,” Akan continued. "We deserve payment for his transfer to Cosmos.
"We are now taking this issue to Fifa.”
Modiba remains suspended for nine games after being found guilty of playing for Ezenkosi without an international clearance.
