KickOff.com can confirm that veteran striker Esau Kanyenda will be staying put at Polokwane City after agreeing a new one year deal with the club.
Since his return from a lengthy spell in Russia the 33-year-old has spent the past four years with Polokwane and was the top scorer as they won promotion from the First Division in 2012/13.
Although his contribution as a starter was reduced last season he has remained an influential factor at training and in the dressing room which has convinced club boss Johnny Mogaladi to keep him at the club.
“I will be staying on at the club as I have been given a one year extension,” Kanyenda tells KickOff.com.
The Malawi international had already hinted that if he was not offered another deal at Rise and Shine he would be heading back home to play for another season at Big Bullets.
Statistically he remains one of the best foreign strikers to ever play in the PSL due to the incredible spell he had at Jomo Cosmos just after the turn of the century when he scored 15 goals in 16 starts just prior to his departure for Russia.
