Bloemfontein Celtic stand firm on Thapelo Morena

Posted: 5 August 2016 Time: 13:03

‘Big three’ target Thapelo Morena will re-join Bloemfontein Celtic after the Rio Olympics – that’s the latest from his Free State club.

Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have all reportedly shown interest in the talented 22-year-old, yet Celtic are standing their ground as they seek the best way to hold on to their prized asset.

“Morena is still a Bloemfontein Celtic player and will re-join the club when he returns from the Olympic Games in Brazil,” a Celtic club official reveals.

“We have been approached, but nothing is happening for now.”

Sundowns’ pursuit of Morena is being sweetened by the possibility of a player swap option with Siwelele having indicated that Fiston Abdul Razak and Bonginkosi Ntuli could be thrown in as part of the deal.

Morena is currently in Brazil for the 2016 Rio Olympics with the South African Under-23 squad, but has already made known his desire to leave Celtic citing his ambition to play Champions League football.
