Daylon Claasen has returned to fitness just in time for the start of the new German Bundesliga II season.
The Bafana Bafana midfielder has missed almost the entire pre-season after having knee surgery at the end of the last campaign.
But he is back in contention for 1860 Munich, who open their campaign at Greuther Fürth on Sunday, having been instrumental in the club surviving relegation last season.
His form in the final weeks of the campaign was superb, leading to interest from a number of other teams in Germany.
Claasen’s career has been one of highs and lows. He made his debut for Ajax Cape Town just days past his 17th birthday in the 2006/07 PSL season, before joining Ajax Amsterdam in 2008.
After two seasons in the reserves in the Netherlands, he moved to Belgian side Lierse where he was one of the top midfielders in that league before a crippling knee injury scuppered a move to English side QPR.
He blew hot and cold during the 2013/14 season with Polish side Lech Poznán, before signing a three-year deal at 1860 Munich where he has been in and out of the team.
He has one year remaining on his contract at the club.
