Chippa United newcomer Marc van Heerden explains AmaZulu exit

Posted: 3 August 2016 Time: 12:15

Marc van Heerden says his desire for PSL football prompted his exit from AmaZulu after eight years of service to the second-tier outfit.

The 28-year-old switched alliances to Chippa United last month.

“I want to say thank you for the continued support, love and kindness the supporters showed me. Playing in front of them was really special,” Van Heerden told AmaZulu's website.

“To the players thank you and always keep the flag of Usuthu flying high and keep playing with all you have for the club.

“My reason for leaving was purely to challenge myself and to be back playing in the PSL. Thank you AmaZulu for the years and I wish you all well.”

Usuthu general manager Lunga Sokhela wished the former University of Pretoria left-back well.

“Marc has been one of those players that have done their best for us and we’ve wished him well in his future endeavours at Chippa United.

“Looking at our goals this season and the future it was fitting that we start with different personnel and let a few players move on to newer challenges for themselves.”
