Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt was sad to lose the services of Sibusiso Vilakazi but is pleased with the club's latest signings.
Wits on Sunday confirmed Vilakazi had joined long-time admirers Mamelodi Sundowns as part of a swap deal involving midfielder Mogakolodi Ngele and striker Cuthbert Malajila.
The Students also on the weekend announced the capture of goalkeeper Darren Keet, who will battle veteran campaigner Moeneeb Josephs for the number one jersey at Milpark.
"It is always sad to see a player go, but this happens,” Hunt is quoted as saying by The Citizen.
“The pressure came from their side – he was happy to stay.”
Hunt added: “... the whole Vilakazi thing was pending so now it is done and we can start working on our best combinations and get going.”
The former Hellenic defender described Ngele as “very similar” to Vilakazi, while he labelled Malajila a “very good player”.
Regarding Keet's arrival, Hunt said: “There has to be a natural progression and changeover. We also have young Carl Peters. We are very happy to get a guy (Keet) like that, it is a good signing.”
