Bloemfontein Celtic attacking midfielder Thapelo Morena says he has not signed a new contract despite his club revealing otherwise.
Celtic managing director Rali Ramabodu earlier this week announced that the player had signed a new three-year deal with Phunya Sele Sele, yet Morena himself said he’s perplexed by such allegations.
"When I saw that I was shocked because I haven’t signed anything," Morena told media before his departure with the national Under-23 team to Brazil for the Rio Olympics.
"I was with the under-23 national team camp and I didn't sign anything.
"My agent will tell me what's happening."
Morena, who has attracted interest from Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, added that his manager is currently talking with Celtic to clarify the situation.
"My manager is busy talking to them and he is asking them what is happening because they released a statement while I was here in the camp and I was not there,” he said.
Morena hinted at his disappointment with Celtic as he feels they are trying to block interest from the PSL’s big guns.
"The moment big teams want you, you feel you can grow your football and see many things in life,” he said. “So I was surprised that Celtic signed a contract without my knowledge."
