Noko Matlou makes history

Posted: 11 February 2009 Time: 09:55

Banyana Banyana striker Noko Matlou made history last night when she became the first South African to win a major individual CAF award.

Matlou collected the CAF Women’s Footballer of the Year award in Lagos, Nigeria, beating off competition from Genevova Anonma (Equatorial Guinea) and Ngo Ndoumbouk Marlyse (Cameroon).

Matlou was a star at the 2008 African Women’s Championship, where she finished joint top-scorer with Anonma with six goals.

The 23-year-old plays for Limpopo side Brazilians and has scored 23 goals in 20 games for the national side.

First South African player to win an individual CAF award??????????

Didn't Thabo Mngomeni win the CAF GOAL OF THE YEAR award for his goal against Congo?
Didn't Bennet Mnguni win an award when Sundowns reached the CAF Champions League final?

I know these awards do not get the same measure but were they not individual awards themeselves?? C'mon Mr. Editor were you still a Stomers supporter when all these happened????

Prof: here is a quote from the article:

Nowhere does it say first SA woman. The Editor is just lazy to do his reasearch.

Congratulation sisi. I have seen a bit of her and she is a very humble person. I like her personality ans she will go far.

Motsepe will sign you to partner Dio Sibisi / Old Crock Zuma.

Guys, don't you think that it is a bit overboard to criticise a woman's looks? All I see here are comments labeling the girl as ugly but a few congratulating her of the actual achievement.

Anyway Congrats NOKO. You've made the country proud by making sure that SA's name does feature in the awards.

And you Mr Editor, couldn't you find any better picture, you fool.

Why are Chiefs fans hating on her? Is it because she's more prolific than their strikers? Daaam guys, take it easy. Congrats girl! And if Mushin wants to sign you, run!
